Kyle Fogt
Kyle Fogt serves as deputy counsel and is primarily responsible for providing legal advice to University of Iowa Health Care on labor and employment matters, including disability accommodations, internal investigations, discipline/discharge, discrimination/harassment, peer review, and non-compete matters. Fogt works closely with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office in defending University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in litigation.
Prior to joining the University of Iowa in June 2022, Fogt served as associate counsel at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) from September 2015 to June 2022. While at UNI, Fogt advised on labor and employment matters and represented the institution in collective bargaining, grievances, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings. Fogt also served on various committees, including the Faculty Handbook Committee, Faculty Petition Committee, and Threat Assessment Team.
From January 2010 through September 2015, Fogt worked as an associate attorney in the Minneapolis office of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP (now Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP). While at the law firm, Fogt advised on complex employment law issues and represented employers and educational institutions in litigation in Minnesota and federal courts throughout the United States.
Fogt received his B.A. in English, magna cum laude, from The Ohio State University and his J.D., with high distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law, where he was awarded Order of the Coif.
